Paul Newman
, who lost his battle to cancer in September, would have turned 84 today. The philanthropist contributed to many causes, including USA WEEKEND’s own Make a Difference Day. (Newman’s annual donation of $100,000 to charities of Make A Difference Day volunteers continues through his food label, Newman’s Own.) Let us remember and celebrate his long and accomplished life today. On a lighter note, comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who danced to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love with then senator and now President Barack Obama on her talk show, is 51 (check out the twosome’s moves below). Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky is 48; and music legend Eddie Van Halen, lead guitarist of the rock band Van Halen, turns 54. Soul singer Anita Baker, another musical icon, celebrates her 51st.
