Two Dancing With the Stars contestants, both of whom could have been contenders, are out before the season even gets started. Jewel (pictured right), one of my favorite singers, says she’s heartbroken, but she can’t compete because she has stress fractures in both legs. Her husband, rodeo champ Ty Murray, is still in. Nancy O’Dell, my friend and Access Hollywood anchor, is out because of a torn meniscus; aka, a knee injury. And you thought they were kidding about how tough the training is. Louis van Amstel, a DWTS pro and choreographer sitting out this season, told me this week he thought both Jewel and Nancy would be contestants to go some distance.
