After being runner-up to Kris Allen on Season 8 of Idol, Lambert put out his first album, For Your Entertainment, which sold more than 775,000 copies. When he did a racy number at the American Music Awards in 2009, the openly gay Lambert, 29, acknowledged he got “carried away” onstage but asked why straight artists were not judged as harshly.
In 2010, he launched a world tour and earned a Grammy nomination for best male pop vocal performance for his single Whataya Want From Me. And in March, Lambert released a second album, Glam Nation Live.

Also, for his 29th birthday, he asked fans to raise 29,000 for Charity: Water. This goal was reached within 6 hours. Then he asked for $290,000, which was exceeded. As of April 12, 2011, $323255 has been raised. Lots more than any other celebrity has raised for Charity: Water.
In addition, the combined efforts of “Glam A Classroom” and the Fall Challenge for donorschoose.org have delivered more than half a million dollars of classroom supplies to students across the country! Even before this, Adam had asked that instead of gifts for him, for fans to donate to donorschoose.org while he was on the American Idol tour in 2009, raising over $300,000!
Also, Adam & friends wrote a song called “Aftermath” that was on his album “For Your Entertainment,” that he had Billboard remix & a portion of the proceeds from that went to The Trevor Project.
He had a hugely successful Glam Nation Tour – internationally selling out over 95% of the venues, his first headlining tour! He toured Japan, China, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Manila, Zurich, and many other places!
Adam also was the first and ONLY American Idol alum to be asked to come back to help mentor the new contestants in 2010 for season 9. Most agree that Adam was the best mentor since he’d been on the show, he understands the business, knows how to “put on a show” and his critiques were honest and on point. Many wanted Adam to be a judge on the show! He’s busy making music now, so maybe in the future he can guest judge sometimes.

I agree with you Ann! Hey thank you for the “where are they now” article. Adam Glam Live Nation tour was the best concert ticket last summer and the Glam Nation Live CD/DVD is theater with his amazing voice. Adam is working on his second album right now!

What happened to Adam Lambert after he left IdoL???, He went on to become the superstar we expected him to be…he put out a a great cd, a beauitiful acoustic album, made too many appearances to even count, completed a if not sold out, close to it world tour, got a grammy nod, is working on his sophmore album, etc, etc., and he has continued to be the charasmatic, generous, loving and free spirit we came to know and love on AI. Thank you Adam, you have provided this particular fan with many, many hours of listening, watching, dancing joy since I ran to TV that night I first heard your wonderful voice.
The point of this article is to use Adam’s name and get hits. It says almost nothing about what Adam achieved since he left Idol.
It’s just another poor author looking for hits.

The content isn’t correct nor did you mention anything about his more than successful GNT and 112 concerts, his many charities raising over 1 million dollars just by tweeting a request. He is so much more than what is written here. Please redo your article with up to date info. Thanks
Adam has sold over 800,000 albums, his world tour was just about sold out in nearly every venue across the nation, and Glam Nation Live also included a fully and beautifully edited DVD.
Actually, as far as his contractual obligation to 19 is concerned, I believe the live album DOES count as #2.
FYE has sold over 800,000 in the U.S. alone and tonight Adam reached the high echelon of Twitter and officially has over 1 MILLION Twitter followers. He is the first and only AI Contestant to ever have a very successful solo world tour off of his first album and is the Greatest most exciting performer in today’s music world. His voice is like no other and is just unworldly. He owns every stage he is on. Cannot wait until his second album comes out this fall!!!
As noted above, the GNT dvd/cd combo is not his second album — it is a live recording of his tour. Also note: the GNT was #1 on Soundscan for music dvds the week of its release.
Adam’s second album will not be out until the fall. Besides his Grammy nomination in the US, he won best pop/rock album in Hungry, won 2 awards in Germany, 3 in Australia, 1 in Canada and was nominated in Finland and Japan. Not bad for the GlamRocker.

I see his face in the opening montage and he’s been on there performing his Platinum hit “Whataya Want From Me” after he mentored (an Idol first) during season 9 and was on again this season to sing an acoustic version of “Aftermath” to bring attention to the remix of “Aftermath” that was released to benefit the “Trevor Project”. Add to that, Idol will be forever changed because of Adam being on there. The producers are now helping the contestants do what Adam was able to do because of his experience and his creative genius. And that is to put on a “performance”.
I’m so entertained by the comments. We are such committed fans that Adam has often looked to the audience to help him answer factual questions during interviews. He’ll forget a date, a fact, but someone in the audience always knows. It is scary,but hilarious – I think he may feel that way, too. He knows his fans always have his back, even though some can be a pain, and he shows his appreciation in many ways. We are this way because Adam is such a talent, so generous, intelligent, funny, and kind. He may not have taken the crown on AI 8, but he stole the hearts and minds of so many who are still on the ride with him.

Seems to me both the questioner and the person providing the answer have been living under a rock. The research for this answer falls sooo short. The FYE sales quoted are only for U.S. domestic sales – worldwide it has sold well over a million copies. His album and single releases to date have gone gold/platinum and charted in too many countries to list here. His 6 month long Glamnation Tour in 2010 played to sold out venues around the world. The Glam Nation Live release you mention was a CD/DVD combination of the live show from the tour.
Oh, and by the way, Adam is the only American Idol alum to date to support his first album release with a headlining tour and to take his first tour overseas.
