Ralston, whose grueling tale was depicted in the Oscar-nominated film 127 Hours, tells us he’s still hitting Colorado’s trails despite the loss of his arm in 2003. “Within a week of getting back after my last surgery, I was out running up a mountainside in Colorado Springs,” he says. But now, he’s a family man: Ralston, 35, married his wife, Jessica, last year, and they are now parents of son Leo, 1. In between making the rounds as a motivational speaker, Ralston says he has embraced a new caution in the wild. “I find myself making different decisions than I used to,” says the proud father, who keeps “a lot of pictures of Leo on my phone.” Ralston says his fateful trek portrayed in 127 Hours warranted Hollywood treatment. “I could see myself bringing other stories forward” to the screen, he says, “but none of my own after this.”
