Rick Dale was looking for a way to pay bills when he started to make old things new again. And now, the restorer on History Channel’s hit show Pawn Stars has a starring role in his own series on the cable network, American Restoration (Fridays, 10 p.m. ET/PT). “The ability to restore family heirlooms or some family memory is quite honestly the thing that hits my heart the best,” says Dale, 52.
Eva Longoria says her new cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen (Clarkson Potter, $29.99), is “a memoir of my life through food.” Growing up on a ranch near Corpus Christi, Texas, exposed Longoria, 36, to the pleasures of cultivating, cooking and eating her own food. “I know good fruit and vegetables when I see it,” says Longoria, who grows herbs such as mint, basil and bay leaf in her “small” backyard in L.A.

But it was a chance encounter at a supermarket with executive producer Brad Falchuk that landed her on the hit Fox musical comedy. She had a good connection: Jones had worked with Glee cocreator Ryan Murphy on the cosmetic-surgery drama Nip/Tuck on FX.

Zellweger, 42, always has kept her personal life private, so it’s no surprise that she’s keeping to herself after her recent split from actor Bradley Cooper. Zellweger, who has an apartment in Manhattan, has been spending time with fellow singleton Sandra Bullock. Zellweger is from Texas, where Bullock has a home, and both have had very high-profile splits. As far as work goes, Zellweger is ready to resume after taking time off, and her next role is up in the air for now. Her last film, the thriller Case 39, was released on DVD in January — she had met Cooper during the shoot.
