Probably not, says James Duff, one of the creators of the show. “She spent seven years working on the second most important thing in her life [acting],
and she was ready to go back to the first: her family.” The successful show just began its seventh season on TNT with 10 episodes budgeted for the summer, five for the winter and six for next summer that lead into a spinoff, Major
Crimes. Duff also is working on bringing Anne Rice’s The Lives of the Mayfair Witches to television.

I love this show. But I’m glad to see she wants to put more time into her family. That is very important. Nothing is forever. So thanks for seven great years. Best if luck to the whole cast.
the closer is one of my favorite shows.i truly hate to see it end.it was always exciting and she worked so well with her coworkers.i hoped that she would decide to stay.she made the show. i do wish her well, but i guess i am selfish and want her to continue on the show.
I am so sorry to see “Brenda” go. Appreciate she wants time with family. Hope maybe she will decide to come back after some time away. I will enjoy the reruns….will give spine off a chance, but it will not be the same. Last shows have been very touching. Thanks for the good shows…proves you don’t have to throw in sex junk to have a great, great show.
i am so sad the closer is ending kyra is one of the best actress’s i have ever seen. she brings her role to life. you feel her joy and her sadness with her. i wish her all the best in whatever she does. may God bless you.

WE ARE VERY SADDEN BY KYRA LEAVING “THE CLOSER” SHOW, WE HOPE SHE WILL RETURN (MAYBE IN THE NEW “MAJOR CRIMES”SHOW.PLEASE.
WOW! I am happy to read what other viewers think of The Closer ending because it shows I was not the only one enjoying it! Yes, it took me a while to get use to Kyra’s southern accent, but it was a joy in itself. I am very sorry to see the show end because I really don’t like the lady who will head up Major Crimes. Did I ever feel that way about Kyra? No, I did not! Ms. Kyra, I wish you the best as you focus on family, but if you ever want to come back to television, you are more than welcome to return! As for Major Crimes…. well, we’ll just have to wait and see!
Simply wish to say your article is as surprising. The clarity on your publish is just cool and that i can think you’re an expert in this subject. Fine along with your permission allow me to grasp your feed to keep up to date with coming near near post. Thanks a million and please carry on the enjoyable work.
Love “The Closer”. I willl truly miss the show. The spin off, that I’m not sure of. Same people. If I look at it, I can see myself waiting for Kyra to walk through the door. So, why bother.
i am sooooooooooo hurt please come back you are so great you will be miss. love you
You could certainly see your expertise within the paintings you write. The arena hopes for even more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to mention how they believe. At all times follow your heart.
Please no please, please dont end the show, what will i do with out the closer.
Dear Ms. Sedgewich, I am not famous or as talented as you but I sure understand following you dream and then to find out you real dream is your husband and kids. Now that I am to have my 10th grandchild in 4 weeks I really am happy I made my decison, as you have.
Thank you the years of entertainment. You are amasing. You will be missed! But, in my prayers daily for happiness, love, and health for you and you whole family!

Loved The Closer and this network’s access to strong original programming of female characters. I do have a problem with the strong female characters crashing and burning at the end of their runs though, instead of living to fight another day and/or moving on to something better…..I hope that the fate of Chief Johnson will not echo the fate of the Holly Hunter character on Saving Grace. If she had been a man redemption might have come somehow. I will keep watching and watch all of the reruns. Hopefully Major Crimes will turn out to be a good thing with a visit or two down the road from Brenda Leigh. God bless and God speed Mrs. Bacon, you will be missed.!.
I am so sad that The Closer is ending. It is my all time favorite show right up there with “24″. Kyra is superb as well as the other characters on the show. Please change your mind and continue with the series. I watch reruns of reruns but I don’t get tired of watching. Thank you.
I will miss the show so much also, as others. What I will miss the most is how much fun it is to watch your co-workers help you with your methods of getting the truth and to see the criminals atitude shoved down their throat. Love it and it will truly be missed.
I love The Closer and will miss it sooo much. All I can say to Kyra is “THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH”
Such a disappointment that “the Closer”is going away!
I have loved the closer and would love to have more Kyra but I understand the need to spend time with family. Enjoy them and you will be missed.
Please just add your family to the show! We love Kevin too!
Don’t end the Closer! You guys are awesome & I will soooo cry!
For months, I have been attempting to explain in compelling words why I don’t want to see The Closer end filming. Other than please, Ms. Sedgwick, don’t quit, I don’t know what to write. Kyra, you have come into our lives and given so much joy with your role and that of all the other fine actors with which you perform, we don’t want you to go.
Perhaps a monthly show could fit your family life better. Nothing is as great as seeing you weekly, but we do have reruns of reruns. The Closer season is very short as it is with only six weeks and then you are gone for six months or so and then another six weeks, and poof you are gone again. We love y’all so much and thank you, thank you so very much for the pleasure of your company, but like a great Merlot, we want more.
Mary McDonnell is wonderful, but there is only one Kyra. Don’t leave us, puleeze!!!!!
My husband and I really enjoy ‘The Closer’. A real different type of ”cop show”. All of the characters fit right into each story. This is one of the few shows that we will really miss.
I, too, am saddened by the news that the The Closer is ending. I’ve been an avid fan since the first episode. I tuned in originally to see the role GW Bailey would be playing, I loved him in the Police Academy, but I quickly fell in love with “Brenda Leigh’s” character and those of the entire cast. My cable company currently is airing episodes from the 5th season, and I find myself riveted to each, just as I was the first time they aired. Good luck Ms. Sedgewick in your post “Closer” endeavors. You’ll be sorely missed.
Love Kyra but understand she is probably tired and wants to spend more time with her family. I think a spin off is great if the rest of the cast is utilized and keeps the same humor and effect. she will always be welcome on my t.v. thanks for a wonderful series of seasons Kyra.
Don’t think I would want to see someone try to replace her character.
I like the show but have really become sick and tired of the season starting and 6 episodes later the season finale. My thoughts were either get with it and produce some shows or get off the air. I guess they chose the latter. So much for loyalty to fans. The spin off will crash and burn, I give it 1 season.
Needless to say someone needs to change her mind……She is Grear & the cast works so well togrther !!!!!!
I am so disapointed that The Closer is going off the air. It is my all time favorite show. Kyra Sedgewick plays Brenda with such zest and originality. I have never seen an actress give so much to a part, I really enjoy watching her. And each member of her squad does a tremendous job. Each one is as unique as the next, yet all working well together (most of the time). It really is great intertainment! This show will be well remembered and sorely missed. Thank you Ms Sedgewick!
I am very sad to learn Kyra Sedgewick will be ending The Closer– My favorite show– love the
story lines and the characters on her squad. Also love when her parents visit !! It is great entertainment –I hope she can be persuaded to extend this series.
GREAT NEWS! I am happy to read that Kyra Sedgewick will be in 21 more episodes of The Closer, one of my favorite shows. (Though sad to read it will be coming to an end after that!) But equally great news to read that FINALLY Anne Rice’s greatest saga will be coming to television as The Lives of the Mayfair Witches!!!! I can’t wait!!!!!
