Albert Brooks, 65, spent decades making comedies for adults but found a new — and very young — fan base in 2003 by voicing a coddling clownfish dad in the Pixar animated film Finding Nemo (out on 3-D Blu-ray Tuesday). “You get into one of these timeless children’s movies and it’s a different business,” says Brooks, who co-stars in This Is 40 (in theaters Dec. 21). “It was an unusual experience to have mothers pushing around 4-year-olds saying, ‘Oh, my God, say something as Marlin!’ It’s just a different world.”
Time will tell if Mark Hamill will reprise his heroic role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VII, but nowadays he plays lowlife gangster Crow in the movie Sushi Girl (now on video on demand). Hamill, 61, thought the role might be too over-the-top and violent for him, so he asked his college-age daughter, Chelsea, to take a look. “She said, ‘Dad, if you turn this down, you can never complain about not getting character parts ever again,’ ” says Hamill. “I’ve never done anything like it.”
