Bowen’s a mom off the set, too.
“I’m terrified of my kids getting older,” says Modern Family mom Julie Bowen, 42, whose real-life sons are Oliver, 5, and twins Gus and John, 3. Having a trio of teen TV kids has made Bowen aware of the “societal traps lying out there in wait for them.” For now, however, her child-rearing issues include Oliver’s life-threatening allergies, where a bee sting led to her raising awareness for the Get Schooled in Anaphylaxis campaign. So where does a mom of three keep her two Emmys? Although one has been slightly broken from child’s play, she says, “they sit in my (home) office, which sounds glamorous, but it’s actually sort of a way station where everything goes before it goes somewhere else.”
