The iconic biweekly music magazine has been publishing since November 1967, and the world’s most famous rock stars, politicians, movie stars and other pop-culture favorites have graced its cover. Not surprisingly, it’s an iconic band that has been on the cover the most: The Beatles, as a group or individually, have been on more than 30 covers. In fact, John Lennon appeared solo on the cover of the very first issue, was with his bandmates on the third, and was paired with Paul McCartney on the ninth. And the woman with the most appearances? That would be Madonna, who has been a part of 20 covers.
