Running out of time? Kimmel, Damon’s joke.

Damon fans shouldn’t take it too seriously — the actor’s feud with the ABC late-night host and comedian is a running joke. A while back, Kimmel started to say, “My apologies to Matt Damon. We ran out of time” near the end of his talk show. In 2006, when Damon did appear on the show, Kimmel cut his interview, and the actor went into a scripted tirade. Kimmel, whose show recently moved up an hour to compete with Jay Leno and David Letterman, played up the “beef” for years — in 2009, he brought then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman into the act and featured a racy, comedic music video with her and Damon.

But last Thursday, the tables turned on this decade-long joke - Damon “kidnapped” Kimmel and then took over as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that night.  Kimmel was tied to a chair at the back of the stage with a gag in his mouth.

“Just for starters,” Damon told the audience, “let me ask you guys this: As an audience, is it weird to see a person with actual talent host this show?”

Fans will have to see how this running joke continues to play out.

  1. I’m looking forward to getting the cookbook “Unbelievebly Gluten Free”. Your recipe “Baked Potato Soup” looks yummy! I want to try the other recipe’s in the book.
