The opening theme of the TNT police drama is a snippet of the instrumental version of Canção Do Mar, a tune by Portuguese singer/songwriter and world-music artist Dulce Pontes. (The song also appeared on the soundtrack to the 1996 movie Primal Fear starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney.) If you dig it, be sure to turn up the TV sound Feb. 13 when the fifth season of Southland, which stars Benjamin McKenzie, Michael Cudlitz and Regina King as L.A. cops, begins.
